That I am not a "R" rating bigot, I actually enjoyed this movie very much. I like watching a movie that I can identify with because the main characters are not strong white males. I do not believe the movie glorified slavery or anything like that. The way the movie portrays black life in its essence is absolutely correct and should be considered correct. The blacks are no longer slaves, they are free people. Not anymore. I do not agree with the movie to much, I like it, but I am not into seeing the worst and the most awful movies of all time. I am a Hollywood movie goer and am comfortable with all of the violent movies I see, but I am not willing to see all of the other horrible movies I see. I would say this movie was very good. Very good.

This film is one of the most moving I have ever seen. It starts out with a bit of a light-hearted movie, and then quickly turns into a very serious one. But I think that even the light-hearted parts can be taken as a real turning point. This is a movie about the horrors that were the slavery system. The big question that remains is: Why didn't these people stand up against it? This movie is not a political statement, because it is an old story, but a simple one. This movie is a great movie, even if you have seen it before, but even if you haven't, I believe that you should go out and watch it. Just go to a video store and get it, you will not regret it.

I had to watch this movie several times because I am so impressed with it. If there is an award for best movie, this is the winner. Every character was extremely well portrayed. I loved every single scene and never felt bored. The cast was great. Denzel Washington was extremely convincing and believable as a man of the past. Everyone else was wonderful. People need to watch this movie. Everyone should watch this movie. This movie is filled with inspiring story telling that most people need to see. I am amazed that it has been over two years and people still don't know about this movie. This movie is one of the best of all time. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I love it so much. Everyone should watch it.

This movie is extremely well done. The acting was excellent. Michael Oher is truly great as a man, whose life is turned upside down in the beginning. He is a fighter who refuses to fight the system. Even though he is forced to fight, he fights to the end. The characters in this movie were great. The story line was believable. This was a very good movie and I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good history lesson. The movie had a lot of action and exciting scenes that made this movie one of the best historical dramas to date. Even though I did not understand all the details, I knew what was happening and understood what the characters were trying to do. The movie was made very well and was good for most of the movie, but towards the end it got a little boring. Overall, I recommend this movie to anyone.

This is my second most favourite film. First was Oliver Stone's JFK. This film is a great political and social drama about a white supremacist who leads a rebellion against the law. One of the people he meets is a slave. His journey through life shows him that slavery was wrong but is true history and not the white man's history. I would give this film a 9/10.

This is my all time favorite movie. I have seen it at least 6 times and I have no plans to stop anytime soon. It's also my favorite movie because it has a great story and everything is so real. It also has a great cast that makes this movie very realistic. The actors were so real. Even the story is very believable, I can't imagine anyone who can't see it for real. It's also a great movie because the country that the movie is set in was never really a big part of my life. The movie also gives you a good idea of what the beginning of slavery really looked like. I would recommend this movie to anyone, even if you aren't a history buff. I was really surprised when I saw that it had a 10 out of 10 on IMDb. I'm usually not a huge fan of historical movies. I prefer crime or comedy movies, but this movie is just perfect!

I have just seen this film at a free screening in London. I was blown away. I had not heard of the "N" word before, but I found it interesting to see the recent history of the N word being used in this film. I do not remember much about the life of Nat Turner (on the whole I don't have much of an opinion of him) but this film seemed to focus on what the young man actually did and how his actions effected the world around him. He must have known that he was fighting for the rights of the slave class, but for what purpose? Perhaps the only thing that truly made sense was that he was fighting for his brother. It is a film that tells us a great deal about the times we live in and about ourselves. It also tells us a great deal about the violence and racism that has been used to suppress the voice of minorities. It is a film that is almost flawless. The acting is excellent and the script is gripping. It is also very topical. If you want to see a film that shows a good side of history, then I recommend this film.

I have watched the Birth of a Nation and was moved beyond words to witness the devastation of slavery in the South. The beautiful songs by Robert Wimsatt and the stunning acting of all three main actors elevate this film to the top. I found the film to be a lot more poignant then I originally expected, even more so than I had expected. The complexity and emotional depth of this film is nothing short of incredible. A powerful film that will bring out the best in the viewer. Worth every moment spent watching. Truly one of the best films ever made and one that will become a classic for years to come. In the end, the ending of the film will leave you speechless. What an ending. You'll just have to see it for yourself. Kudos to the director, writer, actors, producers, editors and everyone else involved in this film. I urge everyone to go watch this film. You'll leave the theater thinking about it for days. Don't miss it. It is well worth the money.

Like many other commentors here, I was going into this movie with a slightly sour taste in my mouth. My wife, however, didn't mind as much. We both watched it together and found it enjoyable. The performances of all actors were outstanding. The stories of the slaves who came to Louisiana and the slaves who were eventually freed were both well told and engaging. It was well worth the money to go and see this movie. We laughed, we cried and it was a good night in with a good movie. I am looking forward to many more great movies of this quality coming out.

Ok, I've been told that there are some misnomers about this movie. First of all, the movie wasn't about slavery, it was a love story. So, to anyone out there who is telling me that it was about slavery, let me ask you this: Is this a good idea for a movie to have the central character be a black man who represents all that was good about the southern culture? This is more than just a "country movie." It was about the atrocities of slavery, and the great contribution of blacks to the country. The slave plantation owners are all here to thank for the creation of the Union. From this, the movie should be seen. It's a great movie. The acting is excellent. This is a must see.

What a great movie! I've heard a lot of people on this board complain that they don't know what's going on, and so on. But don't worry. I saw this movie last night with a friend. She was the first to see it and she was very impressed! Not only was the movie very good, but the whole movie was very good! It is very heartwarming, especially during the war scenes. All in all, I give it a 10 out of 10.

This film is a masterpiece. For those who think that violence is wrong then the film is not for you, but for anyone who loves a good story. The movie has its moments of black comedy but it is well acted and the main actor, Michael Fassbender is amazing. With great performances all around I give this movie 10/10 and I think this film is more than it seems.

Of all the movies I have seen, this is the one that stands out the most. The last movie that I've felt that way about was "Pearl Harbor". I have always been amazed at how the movie had such a negative impact on the society. I've always felt that it was what should have been done rather than what it actually was. One thing that I would like to see, though, is when it was released to DVD. I would like to see how the movie has changed in the years since its release.

So many people saw this film, and though I was certainly a big fan of the classic novel by Michael Crichton, I never knew the film version, nor did I know about the true life story behind the story. While a pretty accurate and entertaining tale of a very real violent event, I was left with some questions: Why would a slave get his mouth sliced off (and why would he do it)? Why was that hanging over the door of the hotel where he stayed? What were his actual motives? Why did the white people in the film, and the reporter in the novel, treat the slave like he was an idiot, a person who couldn't even think for himself? (Then again, I'm not sure the film version was as fair to the slaves. They didn't even ask the slave if he wanted to live, and why would they? It seems a lot of people didn't know the story of Nat Turner, but they seemed to like the film more than the novel.) But, most importantly, why did white people treat this slave as an animal, one who was no more human than a horse? He was given no freedom, no education, no support from anyone. Why didn't he want to be free? To make the movie more humane, the writer (Donald Sutherland) basically had to take the poor man out of his element, but the movie seemed to go out of its way to make him a heartless slave, one who was just as cruel as the rest of the white slave owners. I'm not sure if I'd like to watch a movie with such a message, even if the story was true, but this movie did it very well.

As an American who grew up in a small town of some 3,000 people, I can say with authority that I have never seen anything like this film. I saw it on a day-trip with some friends, the only other movie I ever saw that night was National Geographic, and even that was not as good as this. This movie is not for everybody. Those who have seen the movie, and know it is supposed to be controversial, may find this movie too much and start crying. For those of you who are not familiar with the Civil War, and do not know the real story, you may be disappointed, but those who have read the real story will still find this movie the best movie they have ever seen. I cannot give away the ending of this movie, but you need to see it to know what I am talking about. But if you are ready to see it, do not wait for it to come to your town. I saw it in our local theater, and it was sold out. Watch it on cable, or on Netflix. The only reason I can see why the movie is not so great in the ratings is because it is the year 2017. You would think people would see this movie and not be so offended. I don't know what will be called the next year, but I have seen every movie made that year, and I think this is the best one, and I believe that it will get even better.

I'm not going to say that I was shocked by the movie. I have seen a lot of movies and believe me, I had the usual opinions about it. It wasn't the kind of movie that would make you cry, or jump up and down in the cinema. But, if you put yourself in the position of these "thugs", it would affect you. I loved this movie, and that's why I give it a perfect score. A great movie, you can watch it multiple times to try and understand what it is you are experiencing. Thank you Mr. Tarantino for making such a good movie, it had me amazed.

Overall this movie was great. The actors did a fantastic job and it definitely showed the racism that was going on back then and was it even just a little bit. I thought the film was so intense, it really did get you into it and you were actually surprised at some points and it did make you feel really bad. The use of color was really well done, you see the white people on the right side and the black people on the left side and it really is just a really great film. Overall, a fantastic film and definitely a MUST SEE.

Wow! I thought I was going to have a boring viewing of this movie after I saw the trailer. I was wrong. I was so bored with the majority of it that I started watching it again in my local library and ended up enjoying it so much more. It's very interesting how so many of the characters can be related. A lot of the roles were very interesting as well. This movie was worth my time and I highly recommend it. It was awesome!

I have seen this film a few times and enjoy it every time. I love the look of the film and the music. The use of sound in this movie was wonderful. The writing was great and it was funny and touching at the same time. I like to take time out to take in the atmosphere of the film and the characters. Great job.

I think that it is the best movie I have ever seen. I am not a racist and don't get offended at the "n-words", however, I am amazed at the people that don't understand this. I was proud to see the movie as a young black woman growing up in a white community. I had a wonderful childhood that included her sister and a wonderful mother, but I was never taught to respect black people, especially black men, and the way they treat us. I saw the movie last year at my parents' house, and I still have nightmares about the way that my life ended in that parking lot in that town. I will never know what it was like to grow up in that town, and the hate and prejudice. It was like being in a dark movie theatre that was playing a bad movie. There is no way to explain how I feel about the movie, but I will say that it was the greatest movie I have ever seen. It was painful and scary to be a black woman growing up in a white town. I can not forget it, but I want to let others know that it is a part of my life, and it will always be. To those who don't understand this movie, don't watch it and don't let it ruin your life. I am not ashamed of my history, but I am ashamed that the South has never accepted me and I am only human, just like everyone else.
